The German soprano, Lydia Teuscher, got her first singing lessons from Monika Moldenhauer at the Musikhochschule Trossingen. In 1995, she received a grant to study a year with Miriam Bowen at the Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff. Since 2000 she has completed her studies with the well-known singing teacher Rudolf Piernay at the Musikhochschule Mannheim. Then followed master-classes with Linda Hurst, Klesie Kelly, Charles Spencer, Ulrich Eisenlohr, Ulf Bästlein, Ruth Ziesak, Irwin Gage, Felicity Lott, Graham Johnson and Ingrid Figur.
Lydia Teuscher took part successfully in several music competitions. In 2002, she won with the pianist Juliane Ruf the 2nd Prize at the Joseph Suder Liedwettbewerb in Nürnberg and the Bruno Frey Prize in Baden-Württemberg. The same year she was second at the Bundeswettbewerb Gesang in Berlin. In 2003, she won the 1st Prize at the Mannheimer Hochschulwettbewerb for Schubert Lieder, the 2nd Prize at the Salomon Lindberg Wettbewerb in Berlin and she was finalist at the International Competition Nadia et Lily Boulanger in Paris.
As a concert singer Lydia Teuscher has co-operated with Barockorchester L'arco, Haydn Orchester Bozen, Barockorchester L’arpa festante München, Südwestdeutsches Kammerorchester Pforzheim and the Reutlinger Sinfonieorchester. She was invited to the Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele, Klassiksommer Hamm and the Kammermusik Festspiele Moritzburg. She has appeared with the Stuttgarter BachAkademie and Helmuth Rilling (including a tour to Italy in 2003 She has performed opera roles as in Die Lustige Witwe (2002, Nationaltheater Mannheim), in Papageno spielt auf der Zauberflöte (2002/2003, Nationaltheater Mannheim), in Manon by Massenet (2003, Stadttheater Heidelberg), and the world premiere of the ballet-opera Topographicallayers by John King (2004, Nationaltheater Mannheim). She also appeared in recital with Graham Johnson in Antwerp.
Lydia Teuscher received a study grant of the Richard Wagnerverband and is with Juliane Ruf member of the Podium Junger Musiker. |
