The Japanese tenor, Hitoshi Tamada, obtained his Bachelor of Music degree in singing from
the University of Music and Fine Arts in Tokyo, where he gained first stage experience as Basilio in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro, Ferrando in W.A. Mozart's Così fan tutte, Nemorino in L'elisir d'amore and Poisson in Adriana Lecouvreur. During this period he won a special prize in a competition for young musicians in Osaka.
Hitoshi Tamada then moved to Europe, where he studied at the Hochschule der Künste Bern and the Schweizer Opernstudio Bern/Biel with Professor Hans Peter Blochwitz (Master of Arts degree), and at the Staatlichen Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart in the singing class of Professor Ulrike Sonntag, the Lied interpretation class of Professor Cornelis Witthoefft and new vocal music class of Professor Angelika Luz. During his studies he made his debut with the role of Don Ottavio in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni in E.T.A.-Hoffmann Theatre in the Sommer Oper Bamberg 2013. This was followed by guest appearance at the Landestheater Coburg with a starring role of a children's opera. With his duo partner Go Uezono he joined in 2013 the Master of Arts in Lied in Stuttgart. In 2013-2014 season, he was a member of SWR Vokalensemble Stuttgart as an academist (singer - tenor) and completed successfully his second Master of Arts degree in Contemporary Music in parallel with the internship with the ensemble. During his studies he received a scholarship from DAAD, Nomura Foundation und Yehudi Menuhin Live Musik Now.
Hitoshi Tamada ggave many concerts as a soloist performing Lieder as well as sacred and early music. New Music Theater Arts was one of the most important genres in his musical work. Since 2011, he presented several parts in the productions of the Studios für Stimmkunst und Neues Musiktheater Stuttgart, among others the title role of Narcissus in the premiere of a new chamber opera Die drei Tode des Narziss (2012). In Darmstädter Ferienkursen für Neue Musik 2014, he was invited for the main roles of two chamber opera premieres. From 2016 he was involved as a soloist in the Dutch musical theater productions of Silbersee (ex.Vocaallab) directed by Romain Bischoff.
Hitoshi Tamada was engaged as an ensemble singer with SWR Vokalensemble Stuttgart (Director: Marcus Creed), Gächinger Kantorei Stuttgart (Directors: Helmuth Rilling & Hans-Christoph Rademann), Dresdner Kammerchor (Director: Hans-Christoph Rademann), Vocalensemble Rastatt (Director: Holger Speck, ChorWerk Ruhr (Director: Florian Helgath), Zürcher Sing-Akademie (Director: Timothy Brown), Collegium Vocale Gent (Director: Philippe Herreweghe), and worked primarily under the direction of Marcus Creed, Hans-Christoph Rademann, Florian Helgath, Holger Speck. He died suddenly in the begining of November 2021. |
