The German bass-baritone, Yorck Felix Speer, studied Lutheran Theology and German Literature. He is indebted to Alan Speer, Brigitte Fassbaender, Edda Moser, James King and Andreas Schmidt who introduced him and supported his career as a soloist since 1997. In 2001 he won 2nd prize at the Queen Sonja International Music Competition in Oslo.
Yorck Felix Speer's repertoire covers a wide range: from the Baroque (J.S. Bach's Mass in B minor (BWV 232) and Johannes-Passion (BWV 245), Membra Jesu nostri by D. Buxtehude, The Creation by Haydn), through the great musical masterpieces of the 19th century (as Les Béatitudes by César Franck and Paulus by F. Mendelssohn), to Contemporary music (Der Buch mit sieben Siegeln by Schmidt). In 2005, he gained an outstanding appreciation and success in Russia, where he sang Johannes-Passion (BWV 245).with the Kölner Kammerchor under the baton of Peter Neumann.
In the operatic field, after winning 2nd prize at the 2001 International Queen Sonja Competition in Oslo, Felix Speer made his debut in Die Schule der Frauen by Rolf Liebermann conducted by Rudolf Kelber, as well as in Le Nozze di Figaro and Boris Godunov. |
