The Danish tenor, Kristian Sørensen, began, after completing school, to study singing in his homeland, which he continued after two years in Germany and completed his postgraduate studies in Karlsruhe.
Kristian Sørensen has sung as a tenor soloist concerts throughout Europe. His repertoire ranges from Monteverdi to contemporary music. In the early 1990's, he was also a member of the Kammerchor Stuttgart (Director: Frieder Bernius). Since 1992, he is engaged in the MDR Rundfunkchor Leipzig. Since then, this city has become his adopted home.
Since 1987, Kristian Sørensen works as a singing teacher and teaches at the Hochschule für Musik Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy in Leipzig, where he also studied choral conducting. He gives master-classes in singing, among others at the University in Aalborg, Denmark. He worked for over 10 years as a vocal coach in the MDR Kinderchor Leipzig and was frequently invited for vocal work by other choirs, in 2006 also by the Leipziger Lehrerchor.
In 2007, Kristian Sørensen took over the musical direction of the Leipziger Lehrerchor. He is supported by Sabine Gosch and Sigrun Schläfer, who take over the musical direction on an equal footing in the event of their refusal. |
