The chamber orchestra Sinfonietta 92 is a self-governing ensemble of amateur and professional musicians. The members meet twice a year for short, intensive work phases. They always conclude with a concert in a church and one in the chamber music hall of the Berliner Philharmonie. The players choose their conductor themselves and consciously play with different conductors in order to keep getting new musical impulses.
The orchestra was founded in 1992 by members of the major Berlin student orchestras under the name Sinfonietta 44, initially with the aim of playing in small formations and finding programs outside the musical mainstream. In the meantime, the musical spectrum has expanded, and the number of participants is also increasing on a project-by-project basis. One focus of the work remains dealing with contemporary music. In 2007, for example, the ensemble organized a composition competition and also premiered a number of works or had their German premiere.
Some well-known artists had their first performance experience with the Sinfonietta 92, e.g. Annette Dasch, Julia Jentsch or Andreas Schüller. The orchestra is a popular partner for several choirs. An intensive cooperation connects us with the Berliner Kantorei and KMD Günter Brick. |
