The Romania tenor, Nicolae Simonov, studied at "Dinu Lipatti" National Music College in Bucharest; then graduated from the National Music University of Bucharest, where he studied vocal art with Professors Georgeta Stoleriu and Gabriel Năstase.
Nicolae Simonov is currently a lyric tenor in the Academic Radio Choir. At the same time he performs concerts, recitals and performances at the Filarmonica “George Enescu” in Bucharest, Radiodifuziune, Catedrala Sf. Iosif and the Opera Națională București (Bucharest National Opera) under the baton of prestigious conductors such as Cristian Mandeal, Jochen Wehner, Adrian Butterfield, Jin Wang, Ludovic Bacs, Cristian Brâncuși. In 2010-2012 he attended three vocal master-classes under the guidance of Professor Georgeta Stoleriu.
Nicolae Simonov's continuously expanding soloist repertoire includes operas (Acis and Galatea and Alcina by George Frideric Handel, Don Giovanni and Die Zauberflöte by W.A. Mozart, as well as works of contemporary Romanian composers) and vocal-symphonic works such as G.F. Handel's Messiah, W.A. Mozart's Requiem, J.S. Bach's Magnificat BWV 243 and Matthäus-Passion BWV 244, Robert Schumann's Requiem. In 2011, in a concert held at Catedrala Sf. Iosif, he performed for the first time in Romania Francesco Corselli’s Christmas Cantata. The vocal-symphonic repertoire with the choirs of the Romanian Radio Broadcasting Company (Radio România) and "George Enescu" Philharmonic include works by J.S. Bach (Mass in B minor BWV 232, Matthäus-Passion BWV 244, Johannes-Passion BWV 245, Magnificat BWV 243, Weihnachts-Oratorium BWV 248, numerous cantatas), G.F. Handel, Antonio Vivaldi, W.A. Mozart, Haydn, L.v. Beethoven, Felix Mendelssohn, Johannes Brahms. He married Georgiana Simonov on August 19, 2012, and currently lives in Bucharest, Romania. |
