The German harpsichordist and organist, Fritz Siebert, began his musical education at the local music school in the subjects recorder, piano and clarinet. From 1993 onwards, he received organ lessons from Uwe Rehling, later from Marina Zagorski and Ulfert Smidt, and gave concerts in England and Northern Germany as a prize-winner at the Oundle International Festival for Organists in 1997 and 1998. As a result, he developed a strong interest in music for keyboard instruments of the 17th and 18th centuries, which eventually led him to the harpsichord. He received his first lessons with Thomas Grunwald in 1998. At the Bundeswettbewerb Jugend Musiziert, he was awarded a first prize in the category of harpsichord in Berlin in 2000.
After finishing high school and civilian service, Fritz Siebert began his studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover with Zvi Meniker in the fields of harpsichord and hammer piano. In the following period he gathered a variety of ensemble experiences through regular accompaniment during diplomatic examinations, concerts in various ensembles, and through the participation in the operatic productions, such as Dido and Aeneas by Henry Purcell and Venus and Adonis by John Blow, performed in January 2002 at the Musikhochschule Hannover under the direction of Zvi Meniker. In the spring of 2001, he took part in the 16th Internationalen Händel-Akademie Karlsruhe and attended a master-class at Jesper Christensen; Further courses with Bob van Asperen and Menno van Delft followed. In October 2003 he moved to the Hochschule für Musik Köln and continued his harpsichord studies with Ketil Haugsand. The diploma in 2005 was followed by a postgraduate degree with Christian Rieger at the Folkwang Hochschule Essen, which he completed in 2007 with the concert exam.
From the end of 2007 until the beginning of 2013, Fritz Siebert was a harpsichordist of the Cologne ensemble NeoBarock, with which e has appeared among others at the Brühler Schloßkonzerten, Haydn-Festtagen Eisenstadt, Europäischen Musikfest Stuttgart and Bachfest Leipzig, as well as the Frankfurter BachKonzerten. In addition to CD recordings, concert recordings were also produced by WDR, HR, SWR, BR and Deutschlandfunk. At the beginning of 2010, he founded the concert series TASTENMUSIK in Hannover, where he gave concerts every month, as soloist on harpsichord and organ as well as with music colleagues. In the summer of 2010 he accompanied the ensemble Concerto Köln on a concert tour to Canada and Colombia. As part of the TASTENMUSIKEN, a complete performance in four parts of the J.S. Bach's piano works took place in 2013.
In October 2015 the label Cybele released a SACD, nominated for the German Record Critics Prize, with harpsichord works by Johann Sebastian Bach.
Fritz Siebert plays an instrument from Titus Crijnen, built in 2004 after a model by Johannes Ruckers (Antwerp 1624). His special interest is the French music of the clavichists of the 17th and 18th centuries as well as the works of J.S. Bach, especially Die Kunst der Fuge BWV 1080. |
