Ensemble Seicento (Instrumental Ensemble)

Founded: Germany

Seicento Seicento, an ensemble recently formed by leading personalities in the sphere of historical performance practice, has the aim of making available to concert audiences the many smaller-scale and colourfully instrumented works of the Baroque period and bringing them to performance alongside the established »orchestral« concert activities. Their clearly mapped-out thematic programmes take the listener on a journey through the world of court and sacred music of the 17th and 18th centuries, from intimate violin sonatas to clamouring tuttis with drums and trumpets. Numerous concerts in France, the Netherlands and Germany, as well as productions for radio stations and commercial recordings, have provided ample evidence of the concept's high quality.

The members of the Ensemble Seicento work with highly reputed groups such as Concerto Köln, Musica Antiqua Köln, the Freiburger Barockorchester, the Akademie für Alte Musik and many others.
