The German soprano, Ingrid Schmithüsen, studied singing with Gregory Foley in Cologne and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau in Berlin. She was successful in several international competitions and received various prizes, e.g. at the Concours international des Maîtres du chant français, Paris 1981, at the Competition of the VDMR Berlin (Concert) 1982 and, also in 1982, the Advancement Prize for Culture of the City of Aechen.
Concert tours have taken Ingrid Schmithüsen through Germany, Europe, the USA, Canada and Japan. She has been engaged as a guest singer with several German and Dutch opera houses. Her concert repertoire contains works from the Renaissance to the 20th century, including extensive experience with the historical performance of baroque and classical vocal music. |
