The Schloßchor Hadersfeld was founded in 1973 by the conductor Christoph Kuczewski. Initially regular rehearsals of the choir were held at the Schloss Hadersfeld. The first performances took place at the Pfarrkirche Greifenstein, where the church choir sang in the church service.
Very soon the choir enlarged the repertoire and it includes today choral literature of the 16th to 20th Centuries. At the same time they also prepared choral-orchestral - first masses by Schubert, Mozart and Haydn, then larger works, such as Mozart's Requiem, Weihnachts-Oratorium (BWV 248) by J.S. Bach, Messa di Gloria by Puccini, Quattro Pezzi Sacri and Requiem by Verdi, Lobgesang by Felix Mendelssohn, Schöpfung by Haydn, Carmina Burana by Orff and many others.
For several years, the Schloßchor Hadersfeld has given regularly subscription concerts in Klosterneuburg with another focus on short tours in the neighbouring countries, most recently in 2006, visited Regensburg.
After Christoph Kuczewski finished his engagement and moved to Germany, the Schloßchor Hadersfeld was led for 20 years by Walter Fickert, then from 2001 to 2004 Michael Grohotolsky, who was both the sole artistic director of the Wiener Kammerchor, and the "musical boss" of the Schloßchor Hadersfeld. Since 2005, Jorge-Daniel Valencia directs the choir with great enthusiasm. His first project with the Schloßchor Hadersfeld were several performances of Baroque opera Dido and Aeneas by Henry Purcell, directed by Titus Hollweg. |
