The German baritone, Uwe Schenker-Primus, gathered his first musical experience he in the Windsbacher Knabenchor under Karl-Friedrich Beringer. Later he was co-founder of the ensemble Concentus Cantandi, which performed mainly early music. His finished his singing studies with Professor Monika Bürgener-Schloss at the Hochschule für Musik in 2006 with opera and concert diploma. Already during his studies he gained operatic experience by participating in university productions and guest appearances in various roles (such as Figaro, Masetto, Rodomonte, father in Cendrillon) at various opera houses (Mainfrankentheater Würzburg, Kammeroper München, Ekhof Theater Gotha, Pasinger Fabrik, Stadttheater Fürth). He received several prizes: in 2008 scholarship of the Wagnerverbandes, in 2002s scholarship of the Deutschen Bühnengesellschaft, in 2003 he was a finalist at the Mozartwettbewerb Wiesbaden, in 2004, Armin-Knab Liedwettbewerb Würzburg, and in 2006 at the Internationalen Mozartwettbewerb Würzburg.
Uwe Schenker-Primus has participated in concerts in the field of oratorio of Monteverdi (Marienvesper), J.S. Bach (Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244) and Johannes-Passion (BWV 245) as a bass or Jesus, Weihnachts-Oratorium (BWV 248) and Cantatas), Felix Mendelssohn (Paulus) and Orff (Carmina Burana), to contemporary music (such as Penderecki's Lukas-Passion or Adams' Wound Dresser) and premieres and concerts in the opera and operetta field, co-operating with conductors as Jörg Straube, Markus Poschner, Christian Kabitz, Peter Falk, Daniel Klajner. He has appeared as a guest at the festivals: Rheingaufestival Wiesbaden, Mozartfest Würzburg, Open-Air Turm Baur Ingolstadt, Nymphenburger Sommer München, Kissinger Sommer or Stimmenfestival Lörrach.
In the field of Lieder Uwe Schenker-Primus currently concentrates in the baritone Lieder of the composers Pfitzner and Korngold. In 2008 a complete recording with pianist Klaus Simon of the Lieder of both composers appeared on Naxos.
Since 2005 Uwe Schenker-Primus is a permanent ensemble member at the Mainfrankentheater Würzburg. As a lyric baritone, he sang there the roles of Shaunard in Bohème, Valentin in Charles Gounod's Faust, Prince Ypsheim in Wiener Blut, Sagrestano in Tosca or Ping in Turandot. In 2005, he co-operated with Manfred Trojahn in his directorial debut with his Limonen aus Sizilien, and in 2007 with Gerhard Stäbler in a remarkable world premiere of his Letzten Dinge. He has an impressive experience as a singer of modern times music and music of contemporary composers. In the current season, he made his debuts as Wolfram in Wagner's Tannhäuser, Father in Hänsel und Gretel, and Papageno in Mozart's Zauberflöte. |
