Daniel Saether (Counter-tenor)

Born: Oslo, Norway

The Norwegian counter-tenor, studied at Birminghan Conservatoire and at The Royal Academy in Den Haag.

In 2006, Daniel Saether made his operatic début for the Norwegian State Opera Company with a concert performance of J. Adams’ El Niño Shortly thereafter, he made his UK début with George Frideric Handel’s Messiah and followd by that a series of concerts in Oslo featuring repertoire such as J.S. Bach, G.F. Handel, Monteverdi, Dietrich Buxtehude and Purcell to mention some. Concert highlights includes Carmina Burana with Ho-Chi-Minh Symphony Orchestra in Vietnam, J.S. Bach’s solo cantata BWV 35 with Stavanger Cathedral Ensemble, J.S. Bach’s St. Johns Passion (BWV 245), Magnificat (BWV 243), G.F. Handel’s Messiah to mention some. He performs all the major oratorios, passions and cantatas of the Baroque era. He has also performed in concert music by Purcell, Mozart, Camille Saint-Saëns, Carl Orf, and Leonard Bernstein to mention some.

The ensembles Daniel Saether has worked with includes, Barokkanerne, Oslo Barokk, Paulus Barokk Ensemble, Currentes Ensemble, Pro Musica Antiqua and Bragernes Barokk. He is based in Oslo.
