The German choral conductor, organist and pianist, Klaus Rothaupt, was born in Stuttgart, studied and graduated from high school in 1973 in Waiblingen. In 1976 he began his church music studies at the Staatlichen Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart (organ with Rudolf Walter; harpsichord with Lisedore Praetorius; piano with Fernande Kaeser; music theory and composition with Karl Michael Komma and Helmut Lachenmann). He 1980 he passed the state exam for music education and in 1982 A level church music. From 1977 to 1982 he had a scholarship of the German National Academic Foundation (Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes). From 1978 to 1980 he studied in Paris with Marie-Claire Alain (organ) and Kenneth Gilbert (harpsichord). In 1980-1982 he attended courses at the Summer Academy in Haarlem in Ton Kopman, Luigi Ferdinande Tagliavini, Ewald Kooiman; he also took Interpretationskurs Max Reger Interpretation Course with Michael Schneider; and improvisation courses with Gaston Litaize and Johannes-Ernst Köhler.
From 1982 to 1991 Klaus Rothaupt served as church musician in Backnang. From 1994 to 2000 he was lecturer at the Hochschule für Kirchenmusik Esslingen und Tübingen. From 1986 to 1991 he was a member of the Württemberg Piano Trio. Since 1994 he is Bezirkskantor in Göppingen. In this post he directs the Göppinger Kantorei. He is also a member of the SWR Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart and the Bach-Collegium of the Internationalen Bachakademie Stuttgart. He is a llecturer in Bach Aademies in Caracas, Krakow and Oregon., and has given concerts in Europe, USA, South America.
Klaus Rothaupt has participated in broadcastin and CD recordings with SDR, SWF, HR and BR. He made CD recordings with organ works by J.S. Bach, Marcel Dupré, Franz Liszt, Messiaen, Mozart. |
