Concertkoor Rijswijk (Concert Choir Rijswijk) has sung almost all the major works of the repertoire in the past century. A few examples: The Seasons and The Creation by Haydn, W.A. Mozart's Requiem, Paulus by Felix Mendelssohn, and of course the well-known passions of J.S. Bach, culminating in the staged implementation of the Johannes-Passion (BWV 245) in the jubilee year 2005. In addition, the chorus does not hesitate to go off the beaten path. Thus, they gave in 1999 a Scandinavian concert sung in the vernacular languages works of Danish and Swedish composers who are rarely performed in the Netherlands.
On average, the choir gives two concerts a year, in collaboration with professional soloists and musicians: one time only with organ, then with a small instrumental ensemble or (usually) with a large orchestra. The choir puts high demands on the performance. Therefore it is important to constantly keep working on their own quality development. Regular external experts are used for choir training. A large number of members of the choir also takes individual singing lessons.
The concerts usually take place at the St. Bonifatiuskerk or the Oude Kerk in Rijswijk. Others make use of concert spaces in neighboring communities, such as the Kloosterkerk in Den Haag. Depending on the location and programming between 300 and 500 people attend the concerts.
The Conductor of Concertkoor Rijswijk since 2006 is Daniël Salbert. |
