The German bass, voice medical doctor and music pedagogue, Bernhard Richter, received his first musical education in childhood and youth at the Stuttgarter Hymnus-Chorknaben as well as in violin lessons with Professor Hedwig Pahl (Stuttgart / Trossingen). In addition to his medical studies in Freiburg, Basel and Dublin, he completed from 1986 singing studies at the Staatlichen Hochschule für Musik in Freiburg with Professor Beata Heuer-Christen (concert exam 1991). In the early 1990's, he was also a member of the Kammerchor Stuttgart (Director: Frieder Bernius). After two specialist training as an HNO-Arzt and Phoniater (voice doctor) and Ph.D. med, he habilitated in 2002.
Bernhard Richter performs as a singer in numerous music theater productions, including the Ensemble Aventure, the Judy-Roberts-Company, the music cabaret duo Die schöne Baritons and La Compagnia Trompe l'Oeil. At the Freiburg Musikhochschule he was last heard in the opera Gardez la Dame by Hans-Peter Müller.
From the winter semester 2005-2006, Bernhard Richter was appointed Professor of Music Medicine at the Freiburger Institut für Musikermedizin (FIM) by the Medical Faculty of the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität. At the FIM, in addition to his teaching activities in the field of voice physiology and hearing, he is primarily active in the medical care of instrumentalists and singers in the clinical area of the newly established musician ambulance. His current research interests are in the area of the opera stage as a workplace, in the application of high-speed glottography to investigate the register function in singers and ear protection for orchestral musicians. He got married in 2013 and currently lives in Freiburg, Germany. |
