The Swiss tenor, Mathias Reusser, entered the Conservatoire in Vevey at the age of 14 years in the piano class of Christine Salgado. In 1995, at 17, he entered the singing class of Carmen Casellas. The lyric workshop of the Conservatoire in Vevey, offered him his first roles such as: Ramendado in Georges Bizet's Carmen, Tony in West Side Story by Leonard Bernstein, and Tamino in Mozart's Magic Flute. In 2001 he obtained a certificate in piano and entered a professional class with Ricardo Castro in Freiburg. In 2002, he obtained a certificate in singing with excellence, and entered a professional class with Antoinette Faës in Freiburg (Fribourg).
In 2003 Mathias Reusser was engaged at the Freiburg Opera in the role of "Il venditore di Canzonette" In Il Tabarro by Puccini. In 2004, he performed the role of the Brigadier in Les Aventures du Roi Pausole by Arthur Honegger with the Opéra de Fribourg. The same year he was engaged by the Association Opéra Orff for performing Aeneas in Dido and Aeneas by Purcell. He was invited by Eric Tappy to perform on stage the role of Nerone in l’incoronazione di Poppea by Monteverdi. In 2005 he sang the solo part of the Mass in E flat by Schubert at the Cathedral of Lausanne with the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne and the Chœur Calliope under the baton of Florence Grivat-Favre. In 2006 he was engaged by the Neues Theater am Bahnhof de Dornach for performing the role of Pedrillo in Die Entführung aus dem Serail by Mozart. He obtained his degree in teaching singing in June of that year. In July he was invited again to attend a master-class with Eric Tappy in the role of Idomeneo in the opera of the same title by Mozart and the role of Tito in La Clemenza di Tito by the same composer. In 2007 he joined the Ensemble Vocal de Lausanne led by Michel Corboz. |
