Founded in 1961 by Michel Corboz, L’Ensemble Vocal de Lausanne (= EVL) (Lausanne Vocal Ensemble) is made of vocal and musical personalities in perfect adequacy with the tastes and the requirements of its head.
This variable size ensemble is composed of a core of young professionals with which come to associate, according to interpreted work, other high level chorus-singers. This characteristic makes it possible the EVL to approach a very broad repertory, covering the history of the music of the beginnings of the Baroque (Monteverdi, Carissimi...) with the 20th century (Francis Poulenc, Arthur Honegger...) and in all the formats, from a small group of 12 singers to the symphonic chorus.
The discography of the EVL (a hundred discs produced by Erato, Cascavelle or Music Aria) conferred a world reputation to him. About thirty these recordings obtained distinctions, of which the Requiem of Mozart who received a ‘Shock of the World of the Music’ in 1999. Frequently invited abroad (South Africa, Belgium, Canada, Spain, Germany, Poland, Japan, Netherlands, Israel, France, Italy, Argentina, Greece, Tunisia, Portugal, England), it is always accomodated there by an enthusiastic public.
These last years, the EVL appeared successfully at the Festivals of Lucerne, of Aix-en-Provence, of Montreux-Vevey, of Chaise-Dieu and in Settimane Bach of Milan. He is the guest of the Ensemble Orchestral de Paris and of Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, as well as great French Swiss ensembles. The EVL also works with its own orchestra, , l'Ensemble Instrumental de Lausanne. This one is made up according to the needs of the works, and plays on old or modern instruments.
Since 1998, the EVL organizes its own season in concerts in Lausanne. Year 2000 in particular saw the EVL appearing at Printemps des Arts of Monaco, the Festival of Strasbourg, and at the time of a round in six concerts in Japan. L’Ensemble Vocal de Lausanne profits from the support of the Town of Lausanne, of the Canton of Vaud, the French Lottery and the Leenaards Foundation. |
