The Polish tenor, Paul Reinecke, was born to a father who was a musician. He studied at the Leipzig's Conservatory violoncello, piano and orchestra conducting, in addition privately also singing. In 1920 he was engaged as Repetitor at the Landestheater of Schwerin. Here he substituted an artist got sick as Italian singer in Rosenkavalier and was so successful that he decided to start a singing career.
In 1922 Paul Reinecke came to the Thüringische Landestheater in Altenburg, and in 1923 as tenor Buffo to the Stadttheater of Rostock. Here he had his first successes as Mime in Siegfried and as David in Meistersingern. In 1924-1925 he was engaged at the Stadttheater (Opera House) of Hamburg, afterwards he sang at the Stadttheater von Nürnberg (1925-1927), at the Opera House of Breslau (1927-1930), at the Opera House of Frankfurt a.M. (1933-1935) and at the Deutschen Opernhaus in Berlin, with which he had a guest contract. In Frankfurt he took part in May 1935 in the premiere of the opera Die Zaubergeige by W. Egk the role of Amandus. Then, from 1935 up to his death he was active at the Opera House of Leipzig, where he was one of the most popular artists. Here he took part, among other things, in 1941 at the premiere of the opera Die Windsbraut by Winfried Zillig, in 1942 at the premiere of Der Garten des Paradieses by Franz Petyrek, in 1953 in the opera Wat Tyler by Alan Bush. His daughter, Renate Frank-Reinecke (b. 1935), had a successful career as a soprano at the State Operas of Dresden and Berlin.
