The Israeli baritone, Oded Reich, studied at the Jerusalem Music Academy. Between 2011-2013 he was a member of the Israeli Opera Studio of the Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv. He sang in master-classes with Thomas Hampson among others, and participated the International Neue Stimmen Masterclass of 2012. He won scholarships for singing from: The America-Israel Cultural Foundation (2012-2013), Sidonia-Berkovich (2012), Eli Leon (2012 and 2013), Ronen Foundation (2012-2013), Grabov Scholarship (2014) and IVAI Scholarship (2012-2014).
Currently Oded Reich sings at the Israeli Opera House as well as in theaters and with orchestras such as Bucharest National Opera, Israel Philharmonic Orchestra (Zubin Mehta), Opera Fuoco in Paris (David Stern), Perugia Music Festival in Italy, Concerto Köln and Berliner Dome in Germany and many others.
Among his leading opera roles are: the title role in Don Giovanni as well as Masetto, Conte Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro, Papageno in Die Zauberflöte, Nardo in La finta giardiniera (W.A. Mozart), Belcore in L'elisir d'amore, Malatesta in Don Pasquale (Donizetti), Mercutio in Romeo et Juliette (Charles Gounod), Albert in Werther (Massnet), Marcello in La bohème (Puccini), Silvio in Pagliacci (Leoncavallo), Germont in La Traviata (Verdi), Demetrius in A midsummer night's dream (Benjamin Britten), the Father in Hänsel und Gretel (Engelbert Humperdinck), Tcharchess in Schitz (Rechter), Baruch in Baruch's Silence (Milch-Sheriff), Apollo in Apollo e Dafne and Polyphemus in Acis and Galatea (George Frideric Handel), Aeneas in Dido and Aeneas (Purcell), Adonis in Venus and Adonis (Blow), Uberto in La Serva Padrona (Giovanni Battista Pergolesi).
As well as roles such as: Frank in Die Fledermaus (Strauss), Morales and Zuniga in Carmen (Georges Bizet), Ben in The Telephone and Mr. Gobineau in The Medium (Menotti), Marullo in Rigoletto, Marchese d'Obigny and Dr. Grenvil in La Traviata, Montano in Otello, Silvano in Un Ballo in Maschera, Gran Sacerdote in Nabucco (Verdi), Prince Yamadori and the Imperial Commissioner in Madama Butterfly, Sciarrone in Tosca (Puccini), Second Apprentice in Wozzeck (Alban Berg), the Officer in Boris Godunov (Mussorgsky), Luther in Les contes d'Hoffmann (Offenbach), the Officer in Il barbiere di Siviglia (Rossini) conducted by Roberto Abado, The Caterpillar in Alice in Wonderland (Sebba).
His other repertoire includes the B minor mass (BWV 232), Magnificat (BWV 243), Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244) and Johannes-Passion (BWV 245), numerous Bach Cantatas (J.S. Bach), Ode to St. Cecillia (Purcell), Te Deum (Charpentier), Haman in Esther, Solomon, The Messiah, Alexander's feast and Dixit Dominus (G.F. Handel), Ein Deutsches Requiem (Johannes Brahms), the Requiems of Gabriel Fauré and W.A. Mozart, as well as W.A. Mozart's Great C minor and Coronation Masses, Stabat Mater (Schubert), Pettite Messe Solennelle (Rossini), Haydn’s Nelson and Tempore belli Masses, as well as the Stabat Mater and Jahreszeiten, Sacred Service (Bloch), Les Noces (Igor Stravinsky), and It Shall Come to Pass (Yehezkel Braun) and many other works.
In 2017 Oded Reich directed the opera The Judgment of Paris (D. Purcell), performed by Barrocade Ensemble, there in addition he sang the role of Mercury.
Between 2002-2007 Oded Reich sang as founding-member of "Profeti della Quinta", an ensemble of male voices performing a repertoire of Renaissance and early Baroque music. He currently lives in Tel Aviv, Israel. |
