The Swiss bass-baritone, Michael Raschle, studied at University of Basel (1993-1995). He received his piano training from Hans Schicker and singing from Jane Thorner Mengedoht at the Musikhochschule Zürich (1995-2004), which he completed with teaching and concert diploma with distinction. In the Schweizer Opernstudio in Biel, he trained for the stage. The Lieder master-class with Irwin Gage and Esther De Bros rounded off his studies. He received further impulses in courses with Gisela May, Christoph Prégardien, Jill Feldman, Marga Schiml, Roland Hermann and Thomas Hampson (TV film des Knaben Wunderhorn). In 1999 and 2000 he received a scholarship from the Migros-Kulturprozent. He is a recipient of the 2004 Kiwanis-Liedpreises.
Since October 2003, Michael Raschle has been a sought-after soloist in a wide variety of areas. His repertoire ranges from opera and oratorio to operetta and musicals. From September 2004 to June 2011, he was a member of in the Theater Biel Solothurn, where he appeared regularly as a lyrical baritone in main and supporting roles. He was also a sought-after soloist in independent productions, including Schlossoper Hallwyl (August 2018)), Operette Möriken-Wildegg (October-November 2007), Vokalensemble Zürich, Cantus Firmus Solothurn, Swiss Army Big Band, and others. He embodied with great success Hans Stadinger in Der Waffenschmied, Don Quichotte in Massenet's opera of the same name, Moliére in Rolf Liebermann's Schule der Frauen, King Iarbe in Piccini's Didon, Jupiter in Offenbach's Orpheus in der Unterwelt, Raphael in J. Haydn's Schöpfung, Taddeo in Rossini's Italiana in Algeri, Guglielmo in W.A. Mozart's Così fan tutte in Lucerne, Zoobär in Jost Meier's Zoobär and in the Swiss premiere of Street Scene in the Volkshaus Zürich under Werner Düggelin. In summer 2006 he sang the role of Ralph in Georges Bizet's Die Schöne von Perth at Schlossoper Hallwyl. In 2009 he took part in a world premiere of Erin Gee at the Opernhaus Zürich and sang a world premiere for baritone and strings by Balz Trümpy at the Musikfesttagen in Braunwald. In 2008 he played Prof. Higgins in My Fair Lady at the Bernhardtheater Zürich.
As Smirnov, Michael Raschle played both the actor and singer in the play Der Bär by A. Chekhov, as well as the opera by William Walton. He sang in the Tonhalle Zürich, at festivals such as the Bach Fest Zürich, Internationales Bachfest Schaffhausen, Europäisches Kirchenmusikfestival Schwäbisch Gmünd, Schubertiade Neuchâtel, Musiktage Braunwald, and at the St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. He gave recitals and concerts for the Schubert-Gesellschaft Luzern and the Othmar Schoeck Gesellschaft. He performed Schoeck's Notturno with the Carmina Quartet. He is also active in the entertainment sector. He is also a member of the Close-Harmony Quartetts "Swing4you". In 2008 he sang the Contura path song by Nella Martinetti.
Michael Raschle taught at Musikschule der Stadt Zug (August 2010-July 2013), Since October 2013, he sings at Oper Leipzig. He also peformed at Schlossoper Hallwil (August 2018). Since October 2018, he also sings with Pepe Lienhard Big Band. Radio and television recordings document its diversity |
