The German soprano, Marga Schiml, studied with Hanno Blaschke in Munich and with Irmgard Hartmann-Dressler in Berlin.
Marga Schiml made her stage debut in 1967 at the Stadttheater of Basel as Policare in Tigrane by Johann Adolf Hasse. She had great success with appearances at the State Operas of Vienna and Munich, and the Opera Houses of Graz, Basel and Zürich. She appeared at the Festival of Orange; at the Bayreuth Festival, where she sang in 1978-1980 Flosshilde and Siegrune in Der Ring des Nibelungen, in 1979-1981 one of the flower girls in Parsifal, in 1982-1984 and 1986-1988 Magdalene in Die Meistersinger; at the Salzburg Festival in 1970 First Lady in Zauberflöte, in 1972 Cherubino in W.A. Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, in 1984-1985 in staged performances of Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244) by J.S. Bach. In 1986, she performed at the Teatro Regio in Turin as Fricka in Rheingold; in 1989 at the Maggio Musicale in Florence as Annina in Der Rosenkavalier.
In the concert hall Marga Schiml had no less successful career, especially in oratorio and sacred vocal works. In addition to the classical stage and concert repertoire, she sang parts in Baroque works, and was considered a great Bach interpreter.
