The German choral conductor, organist and church musician, Christian-Markus Raiser, studied church music at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik Stuttgart and Staatliche Hochschule für Musik Trossingen.
In addition to working as an organist in Stuttgart-Untertürkheim, Christian-Markus Raiser also devoted himself to teaching at the Hochschule für Musik Trossingen and Hochschule für Musik Heidelberg as a lecturer in organ literature and improvisation. On the Evangelische Stadtkirche Karlsruhe, he has been Kantor and organist since 1996, which is also the market church in Karlsruhe and the episcopal church of the Protestant regional church in Baden, as well as artistic director of concert series based there, such as the Internationalen Orgelsommer Karlsruhe. As Kantor and organist, he is responsible for the Bachchor Karlsruhe (110 members) and the CoroPiccolo Karlsruhe vocal ensemble (32 members) and is the director of the Singschule Cantus Juvenum Karlsruhe. Under his leadership, the Evangelische Stadtkirche Karlsruhe has developed into a center for church music for the city and region. In 1998, he founded the Karlsruher Barockorchester , together with musicians from the Karlsruhe region who specialize in making music with historical instruments. In 2007 he was appointed Church Music Director (KMD) and in 2022 he received the Staufer Medal from the state of Baden-Württemberg for his services to society, church and culture.
Christian-Markus Raiser not only plays and gives concerts on the organs of the Evangelische Stadtkirche Karlsruhe, he is also a sought-after concert organist at home and abroad. He gave numerous concerts and appearances at international music festivals at many important churches and organs at home and abroad. There are also sound recordings as well as radio and television recordings. He also appears as a juror in international competitions. He shows great openness when it comes to experimental projects, as the CD with works for bells and organ recorded in 2013 proves once again.
His programs include works from all eras, with new music also making up a significant part of his large repertoire. He was able to premiere numerous works by a wide range of well-known composers (Petr Eben, Ulrich Gasser, Kjell Habbestad, Felix fahrer, Boris Yoffe and Peter Schindler). In addition, he expands the scope of his artistic activity with his own compositions for a wide variety of ensembles.
Numerous collaborations with the SWR, the Zentrum für Kunst und Medien, the Badischen Staatstheater and invitations to various festivals such as “ZeitGenuss”, the Händelfestspielen, the Festival de Santander and others are evidence of his diverse work. |
