The German soprano, Elisa Rabanus, began at the age of 4 her musical training in violin at the Clara-Schumann-Musikschule in Düsseldorf, where she also received her first singing lessons with Rainer Templin and in 1995 graduated in in the fields of voice, violin and piano in the preparatory department From 1999 to 2004, she studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln in the singing class of Professor Henner Leyhe and and graduated in summer 2004 with the diploma examination in opera and concert singing. In October 2007 she received her Master of Music after participating in the Master's programe of Barbara Schlick (Baroque singing) and Konrad Junghänel (chamber music). She received important artistic impulses by attending master-classes with Ingeborg Danz, Kai Wessel, and Klesie Kelly and. In 2007, she won the Austria Baroque Academy Music Award in Gmunden, Austria.
Since finishing her studies, Elisa Rabanus has worked as a freelance singer. She has been mainly specialised in the music of the 16th-to 18th centuries, and her busy concert schedule focuses on the areas of concert and Lied. Of particular interest is the Baroque singing, which enabled her to work with renowned musicians such as Gerald Hambitzer and Konrad Junghänel. She has also participasted in opera productions, including W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Engelbert Humperdinck's Hänsel und Gretel, G.B. Bononcini’s Il ritorno di Giulio Cesare, and worked as a chorus member (Chorakademie des Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festivals, Kölner Kammerchor, Cappella Amsterdam, Chor der Bamberger Symphoniker). At the Tonhalle Düsseldorf she already appeared in the Robert-Schumann-Festivals and the Tonhallentages der Clara-Schumann-Musikschule (among other things with the JugendSinfonieOrchester der Stadt Düsseldorf, under the baton of Ernst von Marschall with W.A. Mozart's Exsultate, jubilate).
In September 2003, Elisa Rabanus gave her first recital with works by Clara Schumann and Robert Schumann, Felix Mendelssohn, F. Hensel and Johannes Brahms. Along with her piano partner Marcel Andreas Oberhauser, she won prizes in the competition "Jugend musiziert" at regional, state and federal level as well as at National Singing Competition in Berlin.
In addition to CD recordings and radio productions for WDR, SR, NDR, SWR and DLF, Elisa Rabanus has appeared at prestigious festivals, including Brühler Schlosskonzerte, Tage Alter Musik Herne, Festival Alte Musik Knechtsteden and Thüringer Bachwochen. Since 2010 she has worked with Hermann Max, under whose direction she regularly attend svarious concerts and participates in CD productions at home and abroad.
In 2008 Elisa Rabanus founded together with former classmates, the Ensemble Dissonanz, a solo vocal ensemble with an emphasis on contemporary music. |
