The Austrian choral conductor, Andreas Pixner, graduated in Catholic Church Music studies (priorities: siningin, organ and choral conducting) from the the University of Vienna, where he graduated with distinction; he was awarded the special prize of the Ministry of Science.
Andreas Pixner directed for 9 years the choir and orchestra of the Schlosskapelle Schönbrunn and was Professor of music at different schools, including with the Wiener Sängerknaben. At the Federal Youth Singing 2001 he won two awards as the only youth choir director across Austria. Withe chamber choir La Vocaletto he won in 2002 at the prestigious International Franz Schubert Choir Competition 1st prize and a special prize for the best interpretation of Schubert work, which is very rarely awarded.
Andreas Pixner is Musical Director of the Chorvereinigung St. Augustin at Jesuitenkirche, Vienna. His major concern is the interpretation and maintenance of the masterpieces of sacred music at a high artistic level. He currently teaches at the Wiener Musikgymnasium. Recently, he is also active as an orchestra conductor (Konzerthaus, Musikverein). |
