Born in Aix-en- Provence, the sisters Chani and Nadja Lesaulnier studied with Pierre Hantaï as well Elisabeth Joyé to Paris; then with Béatrice Martin in Escuola Superior de Musica de Catalunya. In Catalonia, Chani and Nadja were very influenced by Jordi Savall and Manfredo Kraemer. Chani and Nadja completed their training at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, where they studies ith Jesper B. Christensen , Andrea Marcon and Jörg-Andreas Bötticher, as well as Andreas Scholl, Paolo Pandolfo and Gerd Türk.
Formed in 2002, Le Petit Concert Baroque (= PCB) has been praised by such artists as Gustav Leonhardt, Laurence Cummings and René Clemencic. The duo won international awards: 2nd prize at Premio Bonporti in Rovereto; they won the International Competition Schmelzer Melk and won the Competetion for Young Performers Göttinger Reihe Historischer Musik 2012.
Le Petit Concert Baroque appears in international festivals throughout Europe: Vienna, Stuttgart with the Venice Baroque Orchestra in Schaffhausen and Zürich with La Cetra Barockorchester Basel (Director Andrea Marcon) , Utrecht, Festival Sinfonia en Périgord, Bargème, Händel-Festspiele in Göttingen, London etc ... The duo has recently appeared in concerts in Basel, Angers and Austria.
The sisters Lesaulnier duo 1st CD "Al Piacere del Signore G. F. Haendel" was released in 2009 BY the label ORF Edition Alte Musik. Devoted to transcriptions for two harpsichords made by Chani & Nadja extracts orchestral Suites, Overtures, Arias and Choruses from operas by George Frideric Handel, this disc won Diapason d’Or Découverte. Chani and Nadja perform in concerts concertos for several harpsichords by J.S. Bach and G. Bersanetti with the chamber music ensemble I Pizzicanti and releasaed CD recordings on l’horizon: a new program for 3 and 4 harpsichords «Cembali à la folie»" - a program dedicated to music for 2 harpsichords by Antonio Vivaldi. Currently the harpsichord duo of sisters Lesaulnier is promoting the new CD dedicated to J.S. Bach, "Der Ewigkeit saphirnes Haus". Released by Fra Bernardo label, it received a Diapason d'Or in July 2013!
Alongside her career as a harpsichordist and fortepianist, Nadja Lesaulnier studied Baroque violin and Baroque double-bass. She has appeared under the direction of D. Sinclair, S. Scholtz and Georg Christoph Biller. As solo harpsichordist, Nadja received the 1st prize at the International Competition Schmelzer de Melk, 2nd prize at the International Competition Paola Bernardi in Bologna and the 3rd prize at the International J.S. Bach Competition in Leipzig. |
