The Venezuelan violinist and composer, David Núñez, lived in Brussels, Belgium from 1989 to 2008, graduated in 1997 from the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel.
In Venezuela David Núñez appears as a soloist with the most important orchestras such as the Orquesta Sinfónica de Venezuela, Orquesta Sinfónica Municipal and Orquesta Sinfónica de la Juventud Venezolana "Simón Bolívar". In 1997 his first album appeared with music for solo violin. Among other works, the first recording of Aram Khachaturian's Monologue Sonata stands out. Since then he has recorded 20 albums, highlighting his collaboration with the Belgian ensembles Ictus and Musiques Nouvelles, with whom in 2011 he obtained the Diapason D’Or award for the album "Nameless City", dedicated to the work of the composer Fausto Romitelli.
David Núñez has given master-classes at the Conservatorio del Sistema de Orquestas Juveniles de Venezuela, at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, at the Conservatorio de Las Rosas in Mexico and at the Hochschule fur Musik "Franz Lizst" in Germany. In Chile, he is an academic at the Pontificia Universidad Católica in Santiago, Chille, where in addition to serving as a violin and chamber music teacher he is also a member of the “Surkos” string quartet. In Argentina, he is the first violin of the UNTREF String Quartet of the Universidad Nacional Tres de Febrero, a project dedicated to contemporary music.
David Núñez has premiered numerous works for violin, including Chaconne by Henri Pousseur (Belgium), ), 7 miniaturas de Frida Khalo by Juan Carlos Núñez (Venezuela), Estructura mándala IV by Diógenes Rivas (Venezuela), Corda para violín y orquesta by Alejandro Guarello (Chile) and Arco de Julio Estrada (Mexico). As a member of various ensembles, he has premiered works by Jonathan Harvey, Fausto Romitelli and Pauline Oliveros, among others. Since 2000 he has regularly participated in the Festival Atempo in Caracas where he is also a member of the committee. He currently lives in Santiago, Chile. |
