The American soprano and music teacher, Rebecca Myers Hoke, holds an undergraduate degree from Westminster Choir College in music education and a masters degree from Temple University in vocal performance.
Rebecca Myers Hoke is a self-employed soprano singer and voice teacher since 2002. Recently described in the San Francisco Chronicle as singing with "an appealing blend of vulnerability and grace", she is a solo and ensemble singer who performs in and around the Philadelphia area. She has appeared as a chorister and soloist with The Santa Fe Desert Chorale, American Bach Soloists Academy (Director: Jeffrey Thomas), Choral Arts Philadelphia (Director: Matthew Glandorf), Philadelphia Bach Collegium (Director: Matthew Glandorf), The Laughing Bird, Piffaro, Opera Philadelphia, Prometheus Chamber Orchestra, and Les Canards Chantants. Recent performances for Rebecca Hoke include the title role in Marais' Sémélé with the American Bach Soloists Academy in San Francisco. This performance was the first complete performance outside of Europe of the opera and received much praise from the Baroque music community in San Francisco. She was praised for being "a light, lyric soprano with near perfect diction in French" and was described as being "commanding in her delivery, and yet appropriately subdued and compliant". She will appear as one of three soloists for performances in Philadelphia and New York and a recording of Thomas Lloyd's Bonhoeffer with The Crossing.
Before pursuing a performance career Rebecca Hoke taught vocal and general music in the Cleveland area for five years. She has maintained a private voice studio for ten years and currently teaches voice at Cheltenham High School and in the Chestnut Hill neighborhood of Philadelphia. She currently lives in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. |
