The American soprano, Arwen Myers, holds Baachelor of Music and Mastrer of Music degrees and a Performer's Diploma in vocal performance from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where she studied with Alan Bennett and Patricia Brooks Havranek.
Praised for her musical sensitivity and clarity of tone, Arwen Myers is quickly gaining a reputation as one of today's most intelligent and skilled interpreters of new and early music. A versatile artist equally comfortable in oratorio, chamber music, and the recital stage, she has appeared with the Portland Baroque Orchestra, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Augusta Opera, the Idaho Bach Festival, and the Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra, among many others. In July, she placed third nationally in the prestigious 2014 NATS Artist Award competition in Boston, Massachusetts.
2014-2015 season highlights include appearances with Chicago-based Kosmologia Vocal Project, a solo recital at the Westobou Music Festival in Augusta, Georgia, J.S. Bach's Saint John Passion (BWV 245) with the Portland Baroque Orchestra, and appearances on Portland's Friends of Chamber Music's "Dinner with Friends" series and All Classical FM's "Thursdays at Three." An avid collaborator, Arwen Myers will also appear as a choral artist with Portland-based In Mulieribus, Cappella Romana, and the Ensemble, among others. She is a founding member of Missouri-based vocal consort Prometheus and is a featured soloist on their debut album, which was released in August 2014.
Arwen Myers is currently the music assistant and director of youth choirs at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Portland, Oregon, and she is an active freelance artist both in the Northwest and across the USA. She currently lives in Portland, Oregon. |
