The German conductor, Guido Mürmann, studied German at the University of Hanover, school music with main subject piano (Professor Gerrit Zitterbart) and church music (A) at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover (organ with Professor Hans-Christoph Becker-Foss). Further studies followed: in the field of conducting / choir conducting with Professor Jörg Straube, singing with Matthias Gerchen and harpsichord with Zvi Meniker. Duribg his study period he led the Göttinger Vokalensemble and was an assistant of Professor Jörg Straube at the Marktkirche Hannover. He has participated in master-classes in organ with Jon Laukvik (Stuttgart) and choral conducting with Hermann Max (Rheinische Kantorei), Hans-Michael Beuerle (Freiburg) and Eric Ericson (Stockholm). Important suggestions he owes to Uwe Gronostay (Berlin) and Frieder Bernius (Stuttgart).
Since 2001, Guido Mürmann is director of Messiaskantorei Hannover, with whom he also performs internationally big oratorios. 2007 he founded the MessiasKammerChor Hannover. With this ensemble of specialists in historical performance practice, he performs the "common" repertoire of the Baroque and early Classical music. Moreover, he goes with this orchestra on a journey of discovery for yet unknown works (Hannover premiere of Missa Sapientiae and the Credo by Antonio Lotti).
Guido Mürmann's artistic work is closely connected with a professional educational profile. He works with the Knabenchor Hannover and at the Musikzweiggymnasium Goetheschule Hannover. His special interest is the open dialogue between traditional (sacred) music and the young generation of today and tomorrow.
Since September 2008, Guido Mürmann is Domkantor at Dom zu Rottenburg am Neckar. |
