Hermann Munkelt (Tenor)

Born: Germany

The German tenor, Hermann Munkelt, began voice training during his study to be a teacher at the Bielefeld Teachers' College at the end of the 1960's, studying with Liselotte Hoffmann. At the same time he sang in the Bachchor Gütersloh under the direction of Hermann Kreutz who also entrusted him with his first solo engagements. From the mid-1970's he continued his voice training with Longins Apkalns who introduced him to the major roles, particularly in the church music realm.

Hermann Munkelt lives in Bielefeld and is mainly employed as a junior high school teacher. In addition, he is a sought-after soloist for oratorio concerts well beyond his own region.
