H. Vincent Mitzelfelt (Conductor)

Born: USA

The American conductor, H. Vincent Mitzelfelt, first studied at Madison College in Tennessee, and later at Union College in Nebraska. His post-graduate work was at Loma Linda University in California.

In 1957 in Los Angeles H. Vincent Mitzelfelt created and conducted his Mitzelfelt Chorale. Later that year, the group appeared at the Hollywood Bowl and he conducted J.S. Bach's Mass in B Minor (BWV 232) for the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. For four years he was the Music Director of the Los Angeles Bach Festival at the First Congregational Church, and was guest conductor for the Los Vegas Pops Symphony, the Readers Digest Orchestra, the Los Angeles County Museum Chamber Orchestra, and the Los Angeles Brass Society. He organized the Camerata of Los Angeles Orchestra in 1973 and served as Music Director of the Camerata of Los Angeles.

Recordings include: J.S. Bach's Cantata BWV 210, W.A. Mozart's Vespers K.321 and Antonio Vivaldi's Chamber Mass, all on Crystal Records.
