The American soprano, Linda Mitchell, obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from UCLA (September 1963-August 1966); and her Masters of the Arts in vocal performance from Washington State University (September 1966-June 1967). She received First Award, John Child Walker Talent Award from Musician's Club of Pomona Valley (March 1966).
Linda Mitchell has been teaching since June 1980, Having trained professionals such as Sky Ferreira, Lana Condor, cast as Jubilee in the upcoming x men movie, and Drew Chadwick of Emblem 3, finalists in the X Factor. From September 1985 to February 2016, she was Vocal Instructor/coach/choreography/accompaniment at Vocal Arts Studios. She started teaching when a student at UCLA and has developed he private studio since the 1980's. She taught at a community college for four years, taught at a private Lutheran school for three years, ages K through 8. She has been on the faculty of Santa Monica Music Center for 10 years. From September 1994 to Jun 2001, Linda Mitchell was Director of Music at Alliance for the Performing Arts. In this post she was in charge of all the vocals for musicals like Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Annie, Peter Pan and Pirates of Penzance. she directed the solos and the group singing, while coaching them on proper vocal technique and how to bring out the best in their performance. This involved kids from 10 to 18 and young adults. She currently lives in Marina del Rey, California. |
