The Austrian-born baritone, Felix Mischitz, received his basic musical training at the Musikgymnasium of the Regensburger Domspatzen in Germany (2003-2011), where he has already performed with ensembles such as Concerto Köln or the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin and was a special prize-winner in the “Jugend musiziert” competition, Singing Category (2010). In his Abitur class he received a scholarship from the Richard-Wagner-Verbandes Regensburg (2010). He completed his studies in singing and opera at the renowned Universität Mozarteum Salzburg with distinction (Bachelor of Music degree in Solo Singing: 2013-2017; Master of Music degree in Opera and Theater Music: 2017-2020). He is currently working with Professor Stephan Genz (since 2021).
As a member of the Mozarteum's opera class, Felix Mischitz has already celebrated great successes in several character roles, most recently as Buonafede in Haydn's Il mondo della luna in a production by Karoline Gruber (2019). In 2019 he took over the role of Filippo in the world premiere of Fausto Tuscano's church opera Francesco e il sultano in Assisi. In 2022 he will make his debut with Tuscano's work as part of the Salzburger Festspiele and the concert series of the Richard-Strauss-Instituts Garmisch. In the 2021-2022 season, an engagement will take him to the Theater Hof, where he will take on the role of Frank in Strauss' Fledermaus.
Felix Mischitz' concert repertoire ranges from the passions, oratorios and cantatas J.S. Bach and his contemporaries to oratorios of the Classical and Romantic periods to works by contemporary composers. He worked with conductors such as Enoch zu Guttenberg, Reinhard Goebel, Howard Arman, Jörn Hinnerk Andresen, Michi Gaigg and Paul Esswood. As a soloist in numerous concerts by the Salzburger Bachgesellschaft, he has performed alongside ensembles such as the L'Orfeo Barockorchester (Director: Michi Gaigg) and the Camerata Salzburg.
Felix Mischitz cultivates his love of Lieder singing together with the pianists Wolfgang Brunner, Almira Kreimel and Yukie Yamazaki. With the latter he won 3rd Prize at the chamber music competition “Fortepiano plus” in 2017 at Schloss Kremsegg (Upper Austria) and performed Lieder by W.A. Mozart and L.v. Beethoven at the Schlosskonzerten Arenberg in 2018. As part of the St. Gellert Festival (Szeged), he also arranged a recital with Gustav Mahler's Wunderhorn settings. In 2020 and 2021, he and his duo partner Almira Kreimel accepted an invitation from the Liedfestivals HIDALGO München and sang Street Art Song as part of the up-and-coming format. He currently lives in Salzburg, Austria. |
