The Orquesta Clásica del Maule (= OCM; English: Maule Classical Orchestra) is a stable cast of the Teatro Regional del Maule r (TRM) with funding from the Ministerio de las Culturas, las Artes y el Patrimonio, as well as contributions from the Gobierno Regional del Maule.
The mission of the OCM is to "develop a plan for the dissemination of universal, Latin American and Chilean symphonic music in the Maule Region, through a musical group of classical format, with strings, winds and timpani".
The OCM is established as a space for dissemination, creation and artistic training for professional musicians, promoting decentralization and opening a new creative space. Given its regional nature, the main objective is to maintain an active relationship between music and the Maulina community, developing an official season of concerts in the main hall of the TRM, which encourages the entry of the public to the theater and executing a series of extension programs, coordinated with the communes of the region.
From its origin in 2009 to date, the OCM already has the development of more than 50 popular lyrical galas, the production of eight renowned operas, such as W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni (2020), La Bohème (2018), Il Trovatore (2017), Otello (2016), La Traviata (2015), Il barbiere di Siviglia (2012), Georges Bizet's Carmen (2011) and Tosca (2009), as well as the development of the adaptation of the operetta “El Murciélago” (2014), popular symphonic tributes, Chilean Christmas carols, musicals, two phonographic productions of musical records by Chilean composers and recognition for its high social impact in the region.
The OCM is currently composed of 23 musicians, who are under the direction of the Principal Conductor, Francisco Rettig. |
