The Spanish soprano, Irene Magalida Mas Salom, began her music training at the “Teatre Principal de Palma” Choir, where she started her experience on stage with different operas (W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Falstaff, Tosca, La Bohème, Turandot, Meffistofele, Georges Bizet's Carmen, La Traviataor, Il Trovatore), and Theatre performances. At the age of 6 she started her violin studies, and she achieved the Professional Music Diploma with Honours and the Higher Degree in 2012. Afterwards she started her vocal studies, where she obtained the First Prize in Chamber Music and in Voice studies at Final’s Professional Degree Awards. In May 2012 she received the "Young Promises" Prize granted by the Foundation Ferrer Salat to attend her Higher Education at the Conservatory of Liceu, where she achieved the Higher Degree in june 2016. Recentlly she has recieved the 1st Prize and a special prize at Concurs Internacional de Música de les Corts, 3rd Prize at Concurs Internacional Germans Plà Ciutat de Balaguer, 3rd Prize at “Concurs Internacional Josep Palet de Martorell, and has been selected for the “Life new artists” programm of Live Victoria Lied Festival. She has recieved also the “Mirna Lacambra Prize”, to debut as Susanna in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro from the Opera Academy of Sabadell (Barcelona), the prize “High Specialization Scholarship” form “Fundación AIE” (Madrid), the Prize “VI Training Academy Jordi Savall”, and the 2nd Prize at “XX concurs d’interpretació Arjau”.
Irene Mas' operatic roles feature Zerlina in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni, Susanna in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Fígaro, Belinda in H. Purcell's Dido and Aeneas, Bellina in D. Cimarosa's Le astuzzie femminile, Papagena in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Sophie in J. Massenet's Werther, Despina in W.A. Mozart's Così fan tutte, Sofia in G. Rossini's Il signor Bruschino, Giulia in G. Rossini's La scala di seta, and Gianetta in G. Donizetti L’elisir d’amore; and within the oratorio she has performed W.A. Mozart's Requiem and Vesperae Solenne de Confessore; Gabriel Fauré's Requiem, Camille Saint-Saëns' Oratorio de Noël,
F. Schubert's Mass in G Major, M.A. Charpentier's Missa Minuit and Te Deum, A. Dvôrak's Mass in G Major Op.86, J. Haydn's Mass St.Johannis de Deo; J.S. Bach's Weihnachts-Oratorium (BWV 248), Magnificat (BWV 243) and Cantatas BWV 82, BWV 29, BWV 129, BWV 51, BWV 147,

140, among others. She has realized a CD recording with the soprano Emma Kirkby, Charles Daniels and Ars Musicae in London.
Irene Mas has obtained the “Best female secondary role at AOTP’19 Prizes” for her performance of Sophie at Massenet’s Werther at Teatre Principal de Palma (C. Soler/G. Vick). She has sung at three last seasons of Life Victoria Lied Festival, and next months she wil make her debut at Schubertiada de Vilabertran, Auditori de Barcelona, Bachcelona Festival and also at Palau de la Música Catalana, taking part of the Primer Palau cycle. As upcomings projects include also G. Donizetti's l’Elisir d’amore,W.A. Mozart's Exultate Jubilate, J.S. Bach's Cantatas BWV 84, BWV 102, and she is performing at Seoul (Korea), Zürich (Zwitzerland) and Helsinki (Finland), among others. She currently lives in Barcelona, Spain. |
