The Austrian pianist, Ingrid Marsoner, is born in Leoben (Styria) and grew up in Graz in a musically house. She begun to play the piano at the tender age of 4 and already by the age of 11 she studied at the Graz University of Music in the master-class of Sebastian Benda, a pupil of Edwin Fischer and Frank Martin. She subsequently studied at the Vienna University of Music with Rudolf Kehrer and has completed master classes with such renowned pianists as Tatiana Nikolayeva, Paul Badura-Skoda and Alfred Brendel.
Ingrid Marsoner has been awarded the Martha Debelli stipend of Graz University of Music and the Bosendorfer stipend of Vienna University of Music. She won first prizes in the Austrian Federal Competition, the Steinway Competition and the “Jeunesse musicale” Competition in Vienna. she also won the "Kawai prize" (First Prize) at the Young Artists Peninsula Music Festival in Los Angeles. Ingrid Marsoner was the youngest member of the piano jury at International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition in Leipzig 2014.
Ingrid Marsoner has been invited to play solo recitals all over the world in famous concert halls such as: Wiener Musikverein/Golden Hall, Vienna Konzerthaus, Carnegie Hall/Weill Recital Hall, Merkin Hall/New York, The Stefaniensaal/Graz, Kiev Philharmony, Congress House in Biel, National Philharmonic of Ukraine, Cultural Center Chicago, Shanghai Oriental Art Centre and many others. She has been a guest at numerous international festivals, for example: Vienna Festival Weeks, Styriarte, Carinthian Summer, Steinway Festival in Arhus, "Intonazione", Bravissimo Festival in Guatemala City, Festival des Alizés in Maroc, the Downers Grove Music Festival, Philharmonic Society Gibraltar, Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series live for WFTM and many others. She is the first European musician, who have a classical concert in a Favela of Rio de Janeiro, at the Favela Jacarezinho during a concert tour in South America, a social project by "Celula urbana".
The artist has been invited to perform as a soloist with numerous orchestras and conductors, including the RSO - Radio Symphony Orchestra under Cornelius Meister, the Symphony Orchestra of Biel, Switzerland, under Thomas Rösner, by invitation from Fabio Luisi with the Graz Symphonic Orchestra under Jonathan Haskell and Peter Schrottner, the Sinfonietta Baden under Thomas Rösner, the Ukraine Philharmonic Orchestra under Mykola Dyadyura, the Macedonian Chamber Orchestra and the Camerata pro Musica under Paul Weigold, the Sinfonia Clássica de Guatemala City under Ricardo del Carmen and the Austrian-Korean Philharmonic under Yoon Kuk Lee. She performed the Austrian premiere of Darius Milhaud’s Piano Concertos with the Austrian Chamber Symphonic Orchestra under Ernst Theis at the Konzerthaus in Vienna. Ingrid Marsoner also loves performing chamber music and has appeared with such musicians as the Franz Schubert Quartet, Igor Levin, Elias Meiri, Ernst Kovacic and Daniel Sepec and presentations of music and words with actors including Peter Matic, Sona MacDonald and Wolfgang Schmidinger. She regularly plays concerts togehter with actor legend Klaus Maria Brandauer.
Five recordings by Ingrid Marsoner have already appeared on Viennese label Gramola to great acclaim in the international press and radio: her début CD of Schubert Sonatas, J.S. Bach’s Goldberg Variations (BWV 988), L.v. Beethoven's C major concerto coupled with Johann Nepomuk Hummel’s counterpart work in the corresponding minor key togehter with the Biel Symphony Orchestra, conducted byThomas Rösner and, most recently, the world´s first recording of Piano Sonatas by Rick LaSalle (b 1951). Just now her new CD has appeared with piano works by W.A. Mozart. Further CD recordings has appeared on the German label Ars Produktion: A live recording of Jan Ladislav Dussek's Piano Concerto in F major with the Camerata pro Musica, conducted by Paul Weigold, her "In the mist" with works by Franz Schubert Leos Janacek, Edvard Grieg for the label of ORF/OE1 and Robert Schumann's "Kreisleriana" (tiPro1, LondonHall).
