Love of the Cantatas of J.S. Bach and inspired by the sacred music of 16th-19th centuries Century are the sources of the Mitteldeutsche Kammerkantate's aim to enrich musically church services of various central German towns with cantata performances. Mitteldeutsche (Central Germany) in the ensemble name - means that works by central German composers are pperformed in the central German churches of Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia, by professional and semi-professional musicians predominantly living, studying or acting in central Germany,
The ensemble was founded by students of music academies in Weimar and Dresden in April 2012. They came together to meet musically for the first project to perform the Easter Sunday Cantata Christ lag in Todesbanden, BWV 4 by J.S. Bach. That the ensemble so could continue to exist since and has found its profession and its way, lies primarily on the enthusiasm of each ensemble member and the resulting exposure.
Another special feature of the ensemble is to perform together by instrumentalists and singers at the earliest opportunity. Moreover, the vocal or instrumental soloists always come from the ensemble. This results in a uniform thoughtful common interpretation. With ever new, also rarely performed cantatas by J.S. Bach and other Central German composers, the ensemble meet at regular intervals in order to design a program for the church service and to rehearse for the performance.. |
