The German conductor and organist, Dominik Beykirch, studied music at the Musikgymnasium "Schloss Belvedere" and the Musikhochschule Franz Liszt in the conducting class of Professor Nicolás Pasquet, Professor Gunter Kahlert and Martin Hoff in Weimar. He received in parallel artistic impulses in numerous master-classes with Bernard Haitink, Colin Metters, Jukka-Pekka Saraste and Ton Koopman, among others.
Dominik Beykirch has performed, among others with the Staatskapelle Weimar, the symphony orchestras of HR-Sinfonieorchester, MDR Sinfonieorchester Leipzig and SWR Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart, Dresdner Philharmonie, Jenaer Philharmonie, Bergischen Symphoniker, Neuen Philharmonie Westfalen, Philharmonie Südwestfalen and Folkwang-Kammerorchester Essen, and conducted the premiere of Ludger Vollmer's youth opera Schillers Räuber. In the 2013-2014 season, he was was awarded the Hermann-Hildebrandt scholarship as assistant conductor Michael Sanderling.
Since the season 2015-2016 season, he is 2nd Kapellmeister at Deutschen Nationaltheater Weimar. Here he was responsible for the new productions of Die Fledermaus and My Fair Lady and conducted the premiere of George Alexander Albrecht's fairytale opera Die Schneekönigin (The Snow Queen). He is also Musical Director of Mitteldeutsche Kammerkantate, a vocal & instrumental ensemble dedicated to performing J.S. Bach's Cantatas as part of the church services in in the towns/cities of Central Germany.
Dominik Beykirch a scholarship in Dirigentenforum (Conductor Forum) of the Deutschen Musikrates and the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes. In January 2015, he won the 6th Deutschen Hochschulwettbewerb Orchesterdirigieren (German University Competition of Orchestral Conducting), and most recently he was awarded a prize of the publishing house Breitkopf & Hartel and the Ernst-von-Schuch Prize. From the 2016-2017 season, he is a member of the artist list "Maestros von Morgen" (Maestros of Tomorrow) of the Deutschen Musikrates.(German Music Council). |
