The Spanish choral conductor, composer and music pedagogue, Pau De Luís Alba, began his connection with choral music early when he joined the “Pequeños Cantores de Valencia” in 1986. He studied first at the Conservatorio Superior de Música “Joaquín Rodrigo” in Valencia, where he obtained the Higher Degrees in Piano, Solfeggio and Professional Composition and later at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música in Madrid, where he obtained the Higher Degree in Choral Conducting. In 2006 he continued his studies at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague with Professor Jos van Veldhoven, director of the Baroque Orchestra and Choir of the Nederlandse Bachvereniging. At the same time, he obtained the Diploma of Advanced Studies at the UPV in 2012.
Since 2008, Pau De Luís Alba has been director of the Coro Universitario Sant Yago, one of the main driving forces of his professional life, with which he has grown musically and personally. Since October 2021, he is also director of the Coro FECOCOVA. Likewise, he has worked on several occasions, as a guest conductor, with the In Terra Pax International Choral Academy (Poland / Germany) and, more frequently, with the Omnia choir of the University of Zilina (Slovakia). In his already extensive career he has offered concerts as a choral director in countries such as the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Macedonia, Poland, Slovakia, Argentina and China.
In terms of musical creation, Pau De Luís Alba works as a composer and arranger. He won the 1st Prize for innovation in the III Composition Competition for dulzaina (a Spanish double reed instrument) “Ciutat d'Algemesí” (2001), the 1st Prize in the VIII Festive Music Composition Competition for band “Villa de Benidorm” (2002), and the 1st Prize in the XI Choral Composition Competition “Ciudad de La Laguna” (Tenerife) in the specialty of white voices (2006). He composed the Cantata al Rei En Jaume (2008) for choir and brass quintet, commissioned and edited by the Federación de Coros de la Comunidad Valenciana on its 10th anniversary. During the 2015-2016 academic year he was resident composer of the Orfeón Universitario de Valencia, successfully premiering several commissions. His works and arrangements are performed by various choral groups not only in national territory, but also internationally.
In addition, Pau De Luís Alba is Professor of Improvisation and Accompaniment at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Valencia. |
