The Dutch lyrical mezzo-soprano, Mieke van Laren, earned as a performing musician and teaching musician degrees. Over the years she has developed her own vision in making music and teaching.
Since her graduation, Mieke van Laren has worked as a lecturer in classical singing at ToBe cultuurcentrum and has a thriving private teaching practice. She gives voice training to choirs, workshops and also voice coach.
As a performer Mieke van Laren is very active. Together with her brother Arjan Roos (percussion) she forms a duo Sub Rosa since 2007. She sings in choirs and small ensembles. Since 1999, she sings in the core of Cappella Amsterdam (Director: Daniel Reuss). She also sings with the Nederlands Kamerkoor since 2011, De Nederlandse Bachvereniging (Director: Jos van Veldhoven) since 2011, Nieuw Nederlands Vocaal Ensemble since 2013, and Collegium Vocale Gent (Director: Philippe Herreweghe). As a soloist, she sings in recitals and arias from the Passions and cantatas of Bach, She cuyrrently lives in Schiedam, the Netherlands. |
