The German mezzo-soprano, Martina Koppelstetter, entered the Munich Musikhochschule in 1983, graduating with distinction in 1990.
Following her studies, Martina Koppelstetter made her debuts in Frankfurt and Munich under Enoch zu Guttenberg, and many important engagements have followed, both in Germany and abroad. She accepted engagements at different opera houses, such as the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz München, the Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck and the Stadttheater Hildesheim.
Martina Koppelstetter has won particular critical praise for her Lieder recitals. As an oratorio singer she has co-operated with conductors as Enoch zu Guttenberg, Helmuth Rilling and Armin Jordan. In addition she is regular guest at music festivals, such as the Rheingau-Musikfestival, the MDR-Musiksommer and the International Festival of Music in Bath, here as Messagiera in Monteverdi’s Orfeo.
Martina Koppelstetter broadcasts frequently and has won particular critical praise for her Lieder recitals. Besides her concert, Lieder and opera repertoires she dedicates her strengths to the contemporary music. She was already several times guest at the Munich Biennale and at the A. de Vantgard and sang the title role in the premiere of W. Hiller’s Peter Pan at the Prinzregententheater Munich (conducted by August Everding). At present she can be seen and heard in several roles at the Gärtnerplatztheater Munich.
Martina Koppelstetter broadcasts frequently and already has participated in numerous recordings of operas, oratorios and Lieder. In 2002 she extended it by bringing out with the pianist Ritva Sjöstedt an album of songs of J. Sibelius in co-operation with the Bavarian Broadcast. With the ensemble Così Facciamo she was to be experienced for the first time as a furious Empress Ottavia in the resumption of Monteverdi’s Poppea, also in 2002. |
