The German conductor, organist and church musician, Konstantin Köppelmann, studied from 1982 to 1987 evangelical church music and solo singing (baritone) at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and at the Richard-Strauss-Konservatorium in Munich.
Since 1992, Konstantin Köppelmann is Kantor at the Immanuelkirche in Munich-Denning, and thus responsible for the entire church, including the choir Kantorei der Immanuelkirche. In 1994 he also took over the management of the "Neuen Chorgemeinschaft Dr. Bernhard Marc e.V.“ in Vaterstetten and in 1996 creatred the choir Neue Chorgemeinschaft Vaterstetten. He is also free member of the Chor des Bayerischen Rundfunks (Bavarian Radio Choir) and participates in solo engagement as a singer and instrumentalist, especially in the field of Baroque music.
In addition to working as a cantor, singer and instrumentalist, Konstantin Köppelmann composed for his two choirs, a series of spiritual, liturgical and secular works, in which he goes his own way, the medieval church music and keys combines with modern harmonies. A great fondness and a special empathy, however, he has for the music of the early 17th to the late 18th centuries and to perform them as faithful reproduction on instruments of the time. He has rediscovered unknown and often very unjustly forgotten music literature, and carefully edited them to make their performance possible. So he reconstructed and added music to Markus-Passion (BWV 247) by J.S. Bach for several performances in the past years, and also completed the score of the opera Dido and Aeneas by Henry Purcell. Carl Ditters von Dittersdorf's Italian oratorio Ester was heard in a Munich premiere in October 2000 at the Immanuelkirche. The performance of the biblical Esther theme in an oratorio by Georg Frideric Handel was another Munich premiere. In October 2002, the first world revival (since 1772) of the oratorio Gioas, Rè di Giuda by Johann Christian Bach was on the programme. In 2003 Messe des Morts by Marc-Antoine Charpentier was heard for the first time in Munich. The opera Proserpina by Mozart's contemporary, Joseph Martin Kraus was performed in Munich in July 2003. |
