The German baritone, Mirko Janiska, studied from 1997 to 2002 in Leipzig at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater "Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy". Already during his studies he sang various opera parts at his university (Papageno in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Guglielmo in Cosi fan tutte) but also smaller parts at the opera house Leipzig. In the years 2002 until 2004 he was member of the “International Opera Studio Zürich” (Switzerland) where he had the chance to be on stage with famous opera stars. He also attended master-classes with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Hans Hotter, Reri Grist and Kurt Widmer.
From the 2004-2005 season to 2006-2007 season, Mirko Janiska was engaged at the opera house in Kiel, there he performed roles like Count Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro by W.A. Mozart, Förster in Das schlaue Füchslein by Janácek, Papageno or Albert in Werther by Massenet. Guest performances have already led him to the Berliner Staatsoper, the Oper Leipzig, to Genoa (Italy) and Seville (Teatro de la Maestranza). Since the 2007-2008 season he is an ensemble member of the Komische Oper Berlin, where he has appeared until now, inter alia, as Orest in Iphigenia in Tauris, Dr. Falke in Die Fledermaus, Marcello in La Bohème and Prince Jeletzki in Pique Dame.
Next to his stage appearances, is Mirko Janiska an active concert soloist in oratorio and Lieder recitals. He has appeared, inter alia, at the Berlin Philharmonie, the Gewandhaus in Leipzig and at the Tonhalle in Zürich. |
