The Swiss mezzo-soprano, Claudia Iten, studied first geography and political economy at the University of Zürich. However, meanwhile she already began her singing studies with Dorothea Galli. Later she trained herself further with Heinrich von Bergen, in the Lieder class of Daniel Fueter at the Konservatorium Zürich, with teachers such as Gert Krämer and Peter Rasky, as well as master-classes with Carol Smith, Daniel Ferro, Marjana Lipovšek, Anna Reynolds and Julia Hamari. She is a double-prize winner of a promotion contribution for young artists of the Kanton Zug.
Claudia Iten sang in Fribourg in Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor by Otto Nicolai and in A midsummer night's dream by Benjamin Britten. In Vienna she sang at the chamber opera the title role in Euridice by Jacopo Peri. She could be heard in summer 2002 at the Schlosstheater Schönbrunn as Rosina in the Rossini's Il Barbiere di Siviglia. In September 2000 she appeared with Cantus Basel und Cantus Zürich in Robert Schumann's Szenen aus Goethes Faust, and in autumn 2001 with Cantus Zurich in Purcell's opera Dido and Aeneas. |
