Around 40 amateur singers of all ages develop the versatile sound of Capella Vocalis Innsbruck. The concert choir, founded in 1998, performs under the direction of Joachim Mayer, but also rare or forgotten choral works.
Capella Vocalis predominantly elaborates sacred choral literature from all periods, often with orchestral accompaniment. The focus is on church concerts as well as projects with other musicians. The choir is also regularly devoted to secular works. The design of worship services or celebrations complements the program.
Highlights of the choral work were among others. The concert for the 10th Jubilee of 2008 with Messiah by George Frideric Handell or the performance of W.A. Mozart's Requiem in 2011. In the Advent 2010, the choir dedicated itself to the rarely heard composer Josef Rheinberger and brought his Stern von Bethlehem to be heard in Tyrol for the first. Worldly concert hymns range from ABBA songs to opera choirs to romantic Lieder.
Two CD recordings testify to the effect of the sound body: Sacred works by Tyrolean composer Karl Koch (Marienmesse Op. 2 and Marienlieder) and the Erste Tiroler Bergmesse by Joachim Mayer are available at the choir. |
