The German lyric tenor, Gerald Hupach, had received professional training, before he began in 1984 his studies at the Hochschule für Musik "Franz Liszt" in Weimar, completing them successfully in 1990. His received his singing training from Professor Hans Kremers.
In 1990, Gerald Hupach became a member of the Opera Studio of the Sächsischen Staatsoper Dresden. In 1992, he was engaged in the ensemble of soloists at the Sächsischen Staatsoper Dresden. He has been an ensemble member of Semperoper Dresden since 1993.
His main roles have included: First Prisoner (Fidelio), Monostatos (W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte), Don Basilio (W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro), Arbace (W.A. Mozart's Idomeneo), Hirt (Tristan und Isolde), Zweiter Edler (Lohengrin), Richter (Un ballo in maschera), Tinca (Il tabarro), Zimmerkellner (Arabella), Scaramuccio (Ariadne auf Naxos), Tierhändler and Haushofmeister (Der Rosenkavalier), Diener (La Traviata), Nathanael (Hoffmanns Erzählungen), Scout (Benjamin Britten's A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Remendado (Georges Bizet's Carmen), Dackel (Das schlaue Füchslein), Sinowi (Dmitri Shostakovich's Lady Macbeth von Mzensk), Jesus (premiere Der Taubstumme), Priester (Der Gefangene), Ratcliff II (William Ratcliff), Dr. S. (Der Mann, der seine Frau mit einem Hut verwechselte), Dr. Blind (Die Fledermaus), Andres (Alban Berg's Wozzeck), Malcolm (Macbeth) and Pang (Turandot). Most recently, he sang in the Semperoper productions as Eislinger (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg) and Oreste (premiere of La grande magia)
Concert tours, guest performances and invitations to festivals have taken Gerald Hupach throughout Europe, including to France, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and the Czech Republic. He has a concert repertoire from Baroque to modern, and gave concert tours with various ensembles. He has also appeared a number of times in concert with the Dresden Staatskapelle. |
