The German conductor, organist and harpsichordist, Thomas Huck, studied church music (A-exam), harpsichord and music education at the Musikhochschule in Saarbrücken. His organ teachers were Daniel Roth, Bernhard Haas and Andreas Rothkopf. He studied harpsichord with Gerald Hambitzer, choral conducting with Volker Hempfling, Wolfgang Helbich and Stefan Weiler, orchestral conducting with Max Pommer. The Master's degree in subject Organ and historical performance practice led him to Pieter van Dijk to Holland at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. There, he also had an opportunity to work with Gustav Leonhardt, Andrea Marcon, and Hans-Ola Ericsson. He attended master-classes with Wolfgang Zerer, Louis Robillard, Michael Radulescu, Winfried Berger, and Harald Vogel. Thomas Huck had repeatedly scholarship of the Internationalen Akademie für Orgelimprovisation des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen. He received there encouragement by Wolfgang Seifen, Francois-Henri Houbart, Theo Brandmüller and Vincent Warnier.
From 1994 to 2005, Thomas Huck worked as Kantor of the Saarbrücker Pfarrgemeinde St. Albert. For several years he worked at the Evangelische Kantorei St. Ingbert and was artistic director of the concert series at the Martin-Luther-Kirche. At the church music seminar in Landau/Pfalz, he taught organ music playing and liturgical organ playing. In 2000, he founded the ensemble ConTemperamento, a group of international specialists in music performance practice on period instruments. The ensemble's repertoire ranges from music of the High Baroque through to the works of the Classical and Romantic.
Besides the activity as a soloist on organ and harpsichord, regular chamber music projects round off his musical activities. Concert tours have taken him so far to France, Austria, the Netherlands and Mexico, among others.. |
