Ashley Hill-Hibbard (Mezzo-soprano)

Born: September 1986 - Miami, Florida, USA

The American mezzo-soprano, Ashley Hill-Hibbard, received her Bachor of Music in Vocal Performance from Florida International University, under the tutelage of Robert Dundas and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance and Literature from the Eastman School of Music, with private instruction from Robert Swensen.

While at Eastman, Ashley Hill-Hibbard performed the role of Orfeo in Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice. Ashley has also collaborated with composers in the premieres and recordings of their works, some of which include - Carson Cooman’s In Beauty Walking, Liza Seigido’s Lamentos de un Presidiario and Thomas Benjamin’s Chicken Little. She has also participated in voice programs both in the USA and Europe, where she has performed scenes from operas such as Der Rosenkavalier, I Capuleti e i Montecchi, and Le Nozze di Figaro.

Chosen as the Concerto Competition winner at Eastman in 2010, Ashley Hill-Hibbard sang Ravel’s Shéhérazade with the Eastman Philharmonia. She placed third in the Kneisels Voice Competition in 2011 and was a recipient of the Phyllis Bryn-Julson Award in 2009. She performed with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra in October 2011 as the alto soloist in Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 2, as well as with the Asheville Symphony Orchestra in November 2011. She has also performed with the Genesee Valley Orchestra and Chorus as the alto soloist in George Frideric Handel’s Messiah in December 2010.

Ashley Hill-Hibbard was described as “captivating” by the Buffalo News after having performed Siebel in Charles Gounod’s Faust with the Buffalo Opera Unlimited in September 2012. She has most recently appeared as the Third Lady in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte with the Lake Area Chamber Music Festival in August 2012, Among her upcoming engagements is soloist in Mozart’s Requiem with the Asheville Symphony Orchestra, April 2013.
