The German tenor and pastor, Martin Hermann, was the son of Pastor Johannes Hermann. He passed his first theological examination in 1952 and his second in 1954. From 1959 he worked as a pastor at the Auferstehungskirche II, which was renamed Kreuzkirche in 1965, until he retired in 1992.
In the 8th State Synod (1972-1977) Martin Hermann was appointed as the 1st substitute member of the Ludwigsburg-Marbach electoral district, and as a member of the 9th State Synod (1978-1983). From 1978 he was a deputy member of the State Church Committee. In the 11th State Synod (1990-1995) he was chairman of the Theological Committee, from 1991 1st Deputy Member of the EKD Synod and from 1992 chairman of the ad hoc committee "Feminist Theology".
Through his position on the Theological Committee, Martin Hermann followed in the tradition of his grandfather, the Stuttgart prelate Theodor von Hermann, who was instrumental in the 1910 hymnal, and his uncle, Dean Theodor Hermann Jr. in Esslingen, who, as chairman of the Theological Committee, had introduced the 1953 hymnal to the Synod. |
