The German tenor, Donát Havár, took his first singing lessons at 8 years as a member of the Stuttgarter Hymnus-Chorknaben. He was also taught by his mother, a famous opera singer. Since 1998, he studied at the Staatlichen Hochschule für Musik und Darstellenden Kunst in Stuttgart under Professor Julia Hamari and Carl Davis. He continued his studies at the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Milan, and finished a master-class, which was directed by Francisco Araiza and Dénes Gulyás. Since 2003 he is member of the Accademia di Montegral, which is directed by the conductor Gustav Kuhn.
Donát Havár made his debut in the 2001-2002 season as Ernesto in Donizetti's Don Pasquale and as Alessandro in Mozart's Il re pastore at the Südostbayerischen Städtetheater. In the 2002-2003 season, he appeared at the Komische Oper in Berlin. He also sang the role of Lord Cecil in Donizetti's Roberto Devereux, with the Duisburger Philharmoniker, conducted by Friedrich Haider at the Philharmonie in Cologne, the Konzerthaus Dortmund and the Theater am Marientor in Duisburg. In 2003 he sang in Lindoro in Luigi Mosca's L'italiana in Algeri, conducted by Brad Cohen and Momoletto in Simon Mayr's L'Accademia di Musica at the Rossini Festival in Bad Wildbad. In 2003-2004 he had a guest engagement at the Theater Aachen, where he appeared 'as Fenton in Otto Nicolai's Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor. At the Pergolesi Spontini Festival 2003 in the Teatro Pergolesi in Jesi, he sang Lalla Rukh by G. Spontini, under the baton of Christopher Franklyn. In 2004, he sang Acis in George Frideric Handel's' Acis and Galatea in Pisa, Livorno, Lucca and Chieti.
In the 2004-2005 season Donát Havár sang Belmonte in Mozart's Die Entführung aus dem Serail in Aachen. Since September 2005 he is member at the Opernhaus Bonn, where he appeared in Die Zauberflöte, Don Giovanni and Die Fledermaus. In 2006 he made his debut at La Scala, Milan as Alceste under the conductor Giovanni Antonini. At the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, he performed Ferrando in Cosi fan tutte under the baton of Martin Sieghart. He also sang Der Geduldige Sokrates and Georg Philipp Telemann's Brockes Passion, TWV 5:1 with René Jacobs.
Donát Havár's activities as a concert singer are very extensive. He sang regularly with such orchestras as the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi, Bamberger Symphoniker, Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana and Philharmonischen Staatsorchester.
His repertoire includes J.S. Bach's Weihnachts-Oratorium (BWV 248), Johannes-Passion (BWV 245), Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244), Messiah and Israel in Egypt by G.F. Handel, Elijah and Paulus by Felix Mendelssohn, Te Deum by Bruckner, Weihnachts-Oratorium by Camille Saint-Saëns, Te Deum by Georges Bizet, Requiem by Verdi and Cantata Misericordium by Benjamin Britten. He gave Lieder concerts at the Festival Incontri Asolani with Todd Camburn and at the Festival di Pasqua Rovereto, with works by L.v. Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, Zelter, Henri Duparc and Wagner. In Stuttgart, he sang Lieder by Franz Liszt, Béla Bartók and Zoltán Kodály, together with János Kulka. He also sang Haydn's Die Jahreszeiten with the Haydn Symphony Orchestra of Bolzano and Trento, conducted by Gustav Kuhn at the Haydn Auditorium and Die Schöpfung at the Jewish Summer Festival in the Synagogue of Budapest. |
